Early medieval period (5th-6th centuries)

At the beginning of the 5th century the Balearic Islands belonged to the Western Roman Empire. This period is characterised, among other things, by the initial Christianisation of the islands.

Around 450 the Vandals incorporated the islands into their kingdom, Carthago was the capital and in 534 the Byzantine army conquered the Vandal kingdom and the islands were left under the control of emperor Justinian.

After the invasion of ABD ALLAH in 707 the Balearic Islands started to pay tribute to the Islamic powers, and in 903 the archipelago was integrated into the Al-Andalus emirate. By that time Son Fornés was completely abandoned.
