archaeological stratum with material remains from this period are
greatly affected by erosion and by modern agricultural labour which
until now have impeded us from ascertaining what the houses were
like.
The
most abundant discoveries consist of fragments of ceramic vessels
which originate from the Western coast of Anatolia, from the Western
basin of the Black Sea and from the territory now occupied by Tunisia.
At
the beginning of Early Medieval times Majorca participated in exchange
networks which included areas of North Africa and the Eastern basin
of the Mediterrane Amphorae
form the Black Sea were used to transport sauces, pepper,
honey, sultanas, ointments and medicines within the framework of
comercial
networks set up by the Byzantine empireí. |
