From the middle of the 3rd century on, events of fire and destruction are detected in different Balearic sites, a period which is contemporary to Punic Wars. The entailment of the islands into the Carthaginian world was profound. For this reason it is not surprising that after the Punic defeat of 201 the Roman military invasion of the Balearics should follow in 123 and then the foundation of the cities of Pollentia and Palma. In the middle of the I century AD Son Fornés went through a crisis, the number of inhabitants decreased greatly and it remained almost uninhabited for more than three centuries. |
