Upper (terrace) floor of Talaiot 1: The roof of the Talaiot was used as a terrace from which the area surrounding the settlement could be surveyed, and from which communication, through signals, with other Talayots as well as other inhabited settlements could be established. The roof was constructed on a foundation made of branches and clay mixed with small stones, and supported by wooden beams made of acebuche (wild olive) arranged in a spiral form around the large column, erected in the centre of the main room . |
