Talaiotic period (850-550 cal BC) (the settlement, Talaiot 1, lower floor)

Lower floor of Talaiot 1

Thanks to the analysis of animal remains we know that the main room was used as an important nucleus for the distribution and handling of meat, mostly pork.

On this main floor pigs and cattle were quartered, and the meat was shared between the members of the community. Some pieces were consumed in that very room in order to celebrate periodic festivities which reaffirmed social cohesion and also had a marked political content.
